Honoring the Green Witch in me
I believe it’s important to understand that just because something is your truth doesn’t make it the ultimate truth because different things are true for different people. There are hundreds of religions, practices, and cultures for a reason and it’s very harmful and disrespectful when one feels called to discredit and demonize people just because it doesn’t personally align with them and their own beliefs.
I believe everyone deserves to be respected and considered regardless of their beliefs and practices and if everyone was considered and different walks of life were respected we would live in a very different world than the one we do now. I grew up in the Christian church so I have just as much love for Christians as I do witches and other religious practitioners. I just dislike how some religious people think it’s okay to judge, condemn, and shame those who don’t follow their religious rules when not everyone is a part of their religion and I dislike how people use their religion and beliefs as an excuse to disrespect and harm others. Historically witches aren’t the ones who mass murdered villages of people for having opposing beliefs and practices and I have not met one witch who portrays the insidious stereotype that people assume we all have. But again, there are good and bad apples in every bunch.
